Healthy New Years

When you hear New Years, a few things come to mind. There's sparkles and celebrations, kisses at midnight, resolutions that realistically last about a month. Basically its a way for people to separate their past, present and future and start a new. So for me, I'm not going to say Happy New Years- its going to be Healthy New Years, because with good health comes great happiness.

So its kind of ironic that the last week I've been sick. With a flu/ head cold/ sinus infection thing. Legit, 7 days in bed. My best friend K, came from Kingston to see me and we were supposed to go out for New Years but instead she went home and I stayed in bed. I got to spend the night before with her snuggling and catching up but ultimately I was a sicky poo. Yes, I had FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) but my main New Years resolution is to listen to my body, to protect it and to be as healthy as I can be.

New Years Resolution #1.
Listen to your body, protect it, be as healthy as you can be.
Make decisions with this in mind, is this going to make me happy only right now, or right now AND in ten years from now. Odds are that chocolate bar, and sugar and alcohol will only really make me happy at the moment. However, I wont completely deprive myself either, we do live only once. Plus red wine can always be justified with antioxidants :D In all seriousness, the healthier my body is, the better my chances are at keeping my cancer gone for good. I'm juicing, which as funny as it would be to picture me all roided out basically means I'm drinking veggies. My dad and C got a juicer and almost every day we're throwing whatever we can in it. Cucumbers, Celery, Spinach, Kale, Tomatoes, Garlic, Lemon, Broccoli, Apples, Peppers, Romaine, Carrots, Beets. I'm not kidding, whatever we can find. My body is still reeling from the effects of radiation and not holding on to nutrients so this is the best way I can get them, and honestly, I'm starting to not mind the taste.

Next will be getting back to yoga and the gym. Sure its great my weight is being maintained, but I want to be able to make it up a flight of stairs with out huffing and puffing. Yoga also helps keep my mind sane, and lately I've been having a lot of panic attacks. Its hard reintegrating back into life and wanting to jump feet first and just go back to the way things were, but I have to remember my body has been through a war and I'll get there. I think my body manifests these panic attacks as a way of talking to my mind and reminding it to slow down.

New Years Resolution #2.
Make sure when I say YES to others, that I'm not saying NO to myself!

I need to focus on me. I can't please everyone. This is going to be difficult for me, because I really do want to be able to please everyone and help and do what I can, but I need to know that I am only capable of what I am capable of.

New Years Reso #3.
Finish Event Planning School!

Come Monday- its back to the books. If I'm not working out or working, I'll be studying.

New Years Reso #4.
Say YES!

Experience more. Live more. Love more. Stop saying no because of consequences that may or may not happen. If no one is going to get hurt, if my work & school wont suffer, and if I'm not plunging into infinite debt then YES. I will say YES!

New Years Reso #5.
Get to Cowboys!

Its an experience I want to experience. Plain and Simple!

New Years Reso #6

Because I'm a girl and this is what girls do, I want to fit back into my Rock and Republic Jeans. I don't care if they were only cool like 5 years ago, I want them to fit, and well!

New Years Reso #7
Read More Books!

Because I thorough enjoy them. I love soaking up information, or as much as my chemo brain will allow and I have no qualms about being a nerd.

That about sums it up. For now. I want to keep cultivating the friendships that are so important to me. I want to be healthy. I want to enjoy the one life that I have to live. I want to love with reckless abandon. Oh and I want to eventually get laid, but we can worry about that one a little later ;)

So Healthy New Years!

To becoming the person you're capable of becoming which is ultimately the best version of yourself!
Cheers~
